5 Star Energy Rating Service

The Building Code of Australia now has Energy Efficiency provisions that have to be met for domestic construction in Australia. Mandatory Energy Efficiency ratings for proposed new dwellings is rapidly becoming the norm throughout most states of Australia. If your Local Authority doesn’t already require some form of certification regarding energy efficiency for new constructions, the chances are that they soon will.

These requirements can be met with a ‘First Rate’ Energy Efficiency rating provided by an accredited ‘First Rate’ user. To address this issue and expand the services provided by Ovens & King Earth Builders, Lachie Gales has met the requirements of the Sustainable Energy Authority of Victoria and has obtained this accreditation.

Rating the energy efficiency of a proposed design prior to construction has tangible benefits to the new owners. ‘First Rate’ can assess the house and provide suggestions to make the house less expensive to run and more comfortable to live in. Every dollar spent now to assess and improve energy efficiency will be paid back to the home owners with substantially reduced running costs.

Houses built with materials with high levels of ‘thermal mass’, such as earth, stone and concrete, can be challenging when it comes to obtaining 4 & 5 Star ratings. The Ovens & King Earth Builders have the background and depth of knowledge to help provide the path to successful design.
